    • Students celebrate last day of school, raise money for Joplin

    • Mexico Senior High School students ended the school year by having fun and at the same time raising money for the tornado victims in Joplin. After the students took their final exams Friday, a dodgeball competition was held with eight teams, including one alumni team and one faculty team participating. It cost $5 each to play in the tournament and a donation of $1 or a canned food item to watch the event. The students could also buy cupcakes. At the end of the day the students and staff had raised $1,751 in addition to several tubs of canned items to send to the people in Joplin who lost everything in a deadly tornado on May 22. After the dodgeball games, the students went outside for their annual end of the year event where they play games, listen to music, and visit with each other before saying goodbye for the summer.
