    • Missouri American Water locates break

    • Missouri American Water received a call on June 12 reporting a water break on Monroe Street at the corner of the Audrain County Courthouse. The break has been difficult to locate due to two mains – the fire hydrant main and the main distribution line. A computer was used Monday to help locate the leak. Dan Vanderfeltz from the Jefferson City office used a computer with two correlates (listening devices – one at the main valve and one at the hydrant). The computer records signals between the two listening devices and measures the footage where the leak is located. The leak was found at the northeast corner of the courthouse at the leg leading to the fire hydrant. About 30 feet of the water main in that area must be replaced.
