    • Audrain County Collector Catherine Zinkel sworn in

    • Audrain County Clerk Shelley Harvey officially swore in Audrain County’s newly-appointed collector, Catherine T. Zinkel. Gov. Jay Nixon recently appointed Zinkel to fill the position following the death of Dianna Rennick. Moments after being sworn in Wednesday, Zinkel went right to work, assisting taxpayers. The first week on the job, Zinkel said she plans to get familiar with paperwork and procedures, and comfortable with her staff. "It's a very busy time, so I want to do as much as I can to help out," she said. Zinkel said former employee Bonnie Hill Deimeke came out of retirement to help out the first day. Lines began forming early Wednesday morning as Audrain County residents prepared to pay their personal property taxes. The deadline to pay taxes is Dec. 31. The collector's office will not be open Saturday. Taxpayers have the option to either pay in person by Friday, mail in their payments, or use the drop box, located on the south side of the Audrain County Courthouse. Taxes can also be paid on-line
