- Class 4/District 8 basketball at Mexico High School
- Posted Feb. 27, 2012 midnight
- The Mexico High School boys basketball Bulldogs never trailed NCMC rival Hannibal in Friday night’s 54-51 triumph in the District 8 finals at the MHS sports complex. As a result, Mexico (23-4) gets a rematch with District 7 champion Duchesne at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at Moberly Area Communtiy College, hoping to equal and even surpass last season’s state quarterfinal run. Knocking off top seed and state-ranked NCMC champion Kirksville proved too tall an order for Mexico High School basketball girls, who finished second in the Class 4/District 8 finals for the second year in a row over the weekend. The Lady Tigers held Mexico without a field goal in both the second and fourth quarters en route to a 43-24 victory Friday night at the MHS sports complex. The Lady Bulldogs led 7-6 after the first quarter, only to trail 19-10 and 35-17 at period’s end the rest of the way. Game stories and more photos are posted today on this website.
