- Missouri Military Academy gold dome placed on new Stribling Hall
- Posted March 13, 2012 midnight
- After weeks of postponements due to inclement weather, the new dome went up Monday on the new Stribling Hall at Missouri Military Academy. The dome replaces the silver dome that sat on top of the old building from 1900 to 2011. It will be one of the finishing touches on Stribling Hall’s construction. The dome will be one of the few gold domes in the state of Missouri. The idea to have a gold dome was conceived by MMA alum Les Barnard, class of 1948, of Flossmoor, Ill. Administrators then kicked off a campaign calling on friends of the academy to assist in securing funds for the dome. MMA faculty and staff raised about one-third of those funds. When completed, Stribling Hall will also be only the second Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified building in Audrain County – in 2009, MMA LEED-certified high school in Missouri. The United States Green Building Council awards organizations and businesses with LEED certification.
