    • Mexico High School girls soccer, Mexico 4, Kirksville 3

    • SOCCER: Home against NCMC rival Kirksville, the Lady Bulldogs rode a Bailey Reed hat trick plus Keagan Riddick’s game-winner to a 4-3 Monday victory. “It was wild. It wasn’t the prettiest game,” Mexico High School coach Brad Ellebracht said. But his Lady Bulldogs recorded their second-highest goal total this season. Reed, who scored unassisted in a 1-1 first half, headed in a free kick from Klaira Ekern to give Mexico a 2-1 lead in the second half. A pair of Kirksville goals put Mexico down 3-2, only to see Reed score again to tie it and Riddick put the Lady Bulldogs on top to stay with 12 minutes left and Brittany Griffin making big saves in each half. “Kirksville is a fast, dynamic sort of team, so this was a really solid win,” the MHS coach noted. The Lady Bulldogs continue league play Thursday at Hannibal.
