Doris Ann Tanzey, 82 of Paris, Mo. passed away on Oct. 27, 2010 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Paris.
Doris was born on July 1, 1928, the second child of William and Florence Dowell Vanlandingham. On Aug. 10, 1947, she married Danny Ray Tanzey who survives her. She is survived by three children: JoAnn (Thomas) Curtright of Miami, Fla., Howard (Carla) Tanzey of Mexico and Patricia (Alan Wachter) Tanzey of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Aimee (Newell Washburn) Curtright of Pittsburg, Pa., Lauren Curtright of Altanta, Ga., Jessica Curtright of Los Angeles, Calif., Collin Tanzey of Ponce, Puerto Rico, and Jordan Tanzey of Columbia, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Camille Curtright Washburn. Additionally, she is survived by one sister, Dorothy (Evert) Kendrick; one brother, Harold (Betty) Vanlandingham and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was a member, Elder and active volunteer at the Paris Christian Church as well as many other civic organizations. She loved gardening and any activity that took her outside. She was an avid and knowledgeable antique collector. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who dedicated herself to caring for her family. Her grandchildren remember her as an entertaining storyteller. She was also an astute business woman who, along with her husband, operated the Monroe County Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Agency for nearly 40 years.
The family welcomes memorial donations to the Monroe County Cancer Supporters or the First Christian Church of Paris.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Agnew Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
