Centralia, North Callaway and Paris
CENTRALIA: The Class 2 state-ranked Panthers posted Ledgerland’s only football triumph over the weekend, rolling to a 50-14 decision over visiting CCC rival Louisiana.
The Panthers led 21-0, 36-7 and 50-7 at the quarters, finishing with a 304-200 edge in total yards. Centralia’s Dax Dollens completed four of seven passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for two TDs as well. Cullen Ralphs carried nine times for 68 yards and scored twice and Chandler Kover made good on all six of his PATs.
Josh Hockman and Jesse Arnold led the Centralia defense with seven solo tackles apiece, the former totaling 11 and the latter 10.
The Panthers continue CCC play Friday at Palmyra.
NORTH CALLAWAY: At home against Eldon, the Thunderbirds saw the Mustangs score the game-winning points on a 10-yard quarterback scramble with two seconds remaining, then add a two-point conversion in a 36-28 final.
Making his first varsity start, Jake Haubner completed nine of 13 passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns for the T-Birds, who led 14-6, 22-20 and 28-20 at the quarters. Eldon’s Brad Dinwiddie rushed 28 times for 194 yards and two touchdowns.
North Callaway plays Friday at California.
PARIS: Traditional rivals Paris and Monroe City kicked off another varsity campaign again, the visiting Panthers going home with a 23-13 victory.
The Coyotes managed just 93 yards in total offense, averaging two yards per carry on 29 attempts. Steven Hayhurst carried 11 times for 53 yards and completed four of 14 passes for 35 yards.
Hayhurst and Jordan Melendez scored for Paris, the former on a 14-yard run and the latter on a 73-yard punt return.
The Coyotes are back in action Friday at home vs. Knox County.
