  • Martha J. Bastian, 88, of Mexico, died at 11:45 p.m., August 17, 2012, at the King's Daughters Home in Mexico. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
    Martha was born on April 16, 1924, in Paris, a daughter of Clarence and Eunice (Boyd) Dawson. On November 1, 1942, in Palmyra, she married Bill Bastian. In addition to her husband Bill she is survived by one daughter Nancy Berrigan and husband Dennis of Boyds, Md. one son Bob Bastian and wife Gayle of Raymore, Mo.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
    Martha was employed with Kaiser Refractories for 25 years and retired in 1986. She was a member of the PEO, Prairie Pine Quilt Guild and the Mexico United Methodist Church.
    In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made to the Mexico United Methodist Church or the King's Daughters Home and sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, Mo. 65265. Expressions of sympathy may be given at www.pickeringfh.com.
