The Mexico Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated after beating Moberly Lady Spartans 3-2 Wednesday (a game which was to be played in Mexico, but due to Wednesday's downpour and already wet field it was moved to Moberly).
It was another close game for the Bulldogs who scored 3 runs in the 4th inning with Anne Baker, Haley Test, and Madi White drawing back-to-back-to-back walks. Abby Dick hit a double to score Anne Baker and Test. Tori Shaw then hit a sac fly to left field to score Ashlie Woodruff, who was the courtesy runner for Madi White.
Danielle Baumgartner hit a single in the first and a double in the 7th and Anne Baker had a single in the 5th.
Moberly scored 1 run in the 1st and 1 run in the 4th.
Baumgartner was the pitcher for the Lady Bulldogs. She recorded 10 strikeouts, no walks, and allowed 3 hits. She is now 3-0 on the season. Karen Baker is 1-0.
"Moberly played a great game against us tonight. They made several great defensive plays and were ready to go. This type of game makes us better. We learn to make adjustments and keep playing hard," stated Mexico Coach Christina Gerber.
The Lady Bulldogs are 4-0 overall and in conference play. They are back on the road tonight when they travel to Fulton.
The Junior Varisty game ended in a tie, 8-8. Mexico scored 2 runs in the second inning on singles from Emilee Rodenbaugh and Laura Fischer. Rachel Owings hit a double to score Rodenbaugh and Laura Fischer.
In the 3rd inning, the Lady Bulldogs scored 4 runs. Singles from Katelyn Smith, Paityn House and Ashlie Woodruff got them going. Nicole Webber drew a walk. Morgan Hall hit a single for an RBI and Sydney Schutte hit a single for 2 RBIs.
One run was scored in the 4th inning by Paityn House who led off with a single. Katelyn Smith scored 1 run in the 5th. Laura Fischer, Morgan Hall, and Leslie Fischer all pitched for the Lady Bulldogs.
Moberly scored 3 in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd, and 1 in the 5th.
