Fred J. Fennewald, 95 of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at the MO Veterans Home in Mexico.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Greg Oligschlaeger officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday evening from 5-7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Fred was born in Martinsburg on April 2, 1917, the son of William J. and Elizabeth (Reymer) Fennewald. He served in the Army-Air Corps from 1942-45 during WWII. On April 8, 1958 he married Mary R. Neri in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 1984. He later married Bertha Mae Martin and she also preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 2007.
He was a farmer and lifelong resident of Martinsburg. He enjoyed telling life stories, playing cards, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Martinsburg Knights of Columbus Council #1270 and the American Legion Post #552 for over 65 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Rodney) Willingham of Martinsburg and Patricia (Glenn) Terrell of Tyler, TX; and three grandchildren, Curtis (Mandy) Willingham of Columbia, IL, Melanie Willingham of Martinsburg and Enzo Terrell of Tyler, TX.
He was preceded in death by a brother Wilfred and three sisters, Genevieve, Rita and Margaret.
