  • NORTH CALLAWAY: The North Callaway football team defeated Bowling Green Bobcats at Bowling Green 35-0 on Friday.
    The first quarter of the game was scoreless before the Thunderbirds exploded with 28 points in the second quarter and 7 in the third. North Callaway recorded 18 first downs to Bowling Green's 4.
    At 8:25 on the clock in the second quarter, Paul Zerr had a 7-yard run for the Thunderbirds' first TD. At 3:34, Vance Allen had a 4-yard run for a TD. At 2:15 Kyle Seiling had a 39-yard interception return for at TD. To end the second quarter Jacob Haubner threw a 30-yard TD pass to Vance Allen at 1:19. In the third quarter, Haubner again found Allen for a 53-yard TD pass. Cole Branson kicked all the extra points for North Callaway. Allen had three receptions for 118 yards and led the team with 9 carries and 55 yards rushing. North Callaway used 11 players for 209 total rushing yards. Bowling Green had 25 carries for 7 yards.
    "It took us a while to get going but we had a great second quarter," said North Callaway Coach Mike Emmons.
    The Thunderbirds, 2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference are home Friday against Montgomery County Wildcats.
    VAN-FAR: The Van-Far Indians won their first homecoming game in 11 years Friday when they defeated Wright City Wildcats 28-14.
    Van-Far had 136 passing yards and 241 rushing. On the night Ethan Gooch was 1 for 2 passing for 60 yards and one touchdown, 16 carries for 117 yards and one TD; and one reception for 15 yards. Logan Boyd had 17 carries for 120 yards and 1 TD, 3 catches for 121 yards and 2 TDs.
    Van-Far, 2-2 overall, plays Clopton on Friday.
    CENTRALIA: Centralia Panthers made Friday night's football game against South Shelby Cardinals interesting, waiting until the last quarter to make their move to win the game 26-8. Centralia led in the third quarter 7-0 before the Cardinals scored in the 4th with a successful 2-point conversion making it 8-7 going into the fourth quarter.
    Chandler Blackwell caught 3 passes for 43 yards and 1 TD from Etzler; while Dixon Dollens, caught 3 passes with 132 yards and 1 TD. Dollens and Blackwell led the Panther receivers, while Cullen Ralphs led the team on the ground with 62 rushing yards. Austin Kinkead led the defense with 13 tackles.
    Centralia is 4-0 overall for the season as well as in CCC play.
    PARIS: In a non-conference game against Knox County, Paris came up short losing 45-12. Knox County kept the Coyotes scoreless in the second half, while they scored in all four quarters. "We played good in the first half, we just have to figure out how to string two halves together," said Paris Coach Gary Crusha. "We have a lot of things to improve on. We are young and inexperienced in several positions and it shows," added the coach. The goal of the team is to get a little better each week and get the players a little more experience playing varsity football, so they can raise their level of play. Quarterback Steven Hayhurst rushed for 29 yards, completed 9 passes in 21 attempts and scored 1 touchdown, while Slater Stone scored the second TD.
