Eighth-ranked undefeated Westran left little doubt in the minds of football fans Friday that it’s 2012 Homecoming game against Paris was going to be a joyous celebration for Hornets followers young and old alike.
With first year sophomore quarterback Zane Jacoby racking up 356 offensive yards and throwing 5 touchdown passes and running for two more, as Westran made mincemeat of the Coyotes winning 61-0 in Lewis & Clark Conference play.
The Hornets (5-0, 1-0 LCC) scored on every possession during the first half and lit up the scoreboard with 34 points during the first quarter. Once intermission arrived, the rest of the game’s total figure already was added to jumpstart a running clock to be used in the second half of play.
Jacoby completed all six pass attempts for 238 yards, and he ran the football five times adding 118 more yards to account for most of the Hornets’ 537 total yards of real estate in the game reported Westran football coach Curtis Jasper.
Deavon Cannaday had an effective running game rushing for 72 yards on eight carries, and Zach Morgan went 31 yards on four rushes. Jake Ingebritson, Parker Howard and Dalton Wright all turned in 20 yards of rushing while Devin Perkins added 17.

Quarterback Steven Hayhurst completed 1-of-11 passes for just 2 yards, but he was thrown for a 26-yard loss trying to run the football. Paris running back Slater Stone carried the football 10 times for 19 yards.
Defensively for Westran, Howard came down with a pair of interceptions and the Westran unit was credited by forcing Paris into seven hurried passing attempts during the game.
