Richard Ray Christopher, 62, of Mexico, formerly of Foristell, died at 11:40 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia. Most recently, Mr. Christopher had been living at the Missouri Veteran's Home; he spent the majority of his life in Foristell moving to Mexico in 2008.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012, at MO Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville with Pastor Joey Owen officiating. Visitation will be Friday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home.
Richard was born on February 6, 1950, in St. Charles, Mo., a son of Richard Dean and Shirley Jean (Bryson) Christopher. He attended schools in Wright City.
He is survived by two daughters, Gayle L. Owen and husband Joey, of Fulton, and Shelly R. Branch and Ali Syed of Mexico; three brothers, Bill Christopher and wife Jane of Troy, Mark Christopher and wife Penny of Jackson, Tenn., and David Christopher and wife Sandy of Wright City, Mo.; one sister Annie Williams of Foristell, Mo. and five grandchildren: Jamie, Justin, Zachary, Clayton and Jarrett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Debbie.
Richard served in the in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Ford Motor Company for 19 years. He enjoyed barbeques, storytelling, camping and he loved kids.
