Area voters may now request or pick up absentee ballots for the Nov. 6 general election at the Audrain County Clerk's office in Mexico.
Voters may vote absentee in the county clerk's office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The last day to vote by absentee ballot in person is Monday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m.
For those requesting an absentee ballot to be mailed, the request must be received no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Ballots may not be requested by phone – a signature is required.
Missourians may vote by absentee ballot if they will be absent from their voting precinct on election day, are incapacitated or confined with illness or physical disability or are caretaking for someone incapacitated and their caretaker's religious practice prevents them from voting in person on election day, they are employed as an election authority for a different polling place than their own, or if they are incarcerated but retain voting rights.
Military and overseas voters should visit FVAP.gov. Long distance voter's forms and information should only be used by voters with U.S. mailing addresses.
Voters must otherwise vote in their polling district. If you have moved since the last election, you must update your address in the county clerk's office before election day.
For information concerning absentee voting, call the county clerk's office at (573) 473-5820. The county clerk is continually seeking extra people to work the polls. Anyone interested is asked to call the county clerk's office.
The deadline to register to vote for the November general election is Wednesday, Oct. 10.
