Mexico 7, Macon 4

Mexico softball Lady Bulldogs won their District matchup with Macon Wednesday night by a score of 7-4.
Danielle Baumgartner led the Lady Bulldogs with a solo home run in the 1st inning. Anne Baker also had a single in the 1st inning. 1 run scored.
In the 2nd inning, Victoria Shaw led off with a single and a stolen base. Madison White drew a walk and Ashlie Woodruff came in as a courtesy runner. Alison Mudd hit a triple to score Shaw and Woodruff. Baumgartner reached on an error and scored Mudd. The Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the 2nd inning.
In the 3rd inning Karen Baker hit a single followed by a sacrifice bunt from Abby Dick. Shaw hit a single followed by a walk from White. With bases loaded, Macon was able to keep Mexico scoreless in the 3rd.
Brooke Costley hit a single to start the 4th inning. A. Baker then followed with a single. Both advanced on a passed ball. Once again, Macon held Mexico scoreless in the 4th inning.
In the 6th inning, Baumgartner led with a one-out double. Costley hit a single to score Baumgartner. A. Baker then hit a 2-run home run. The Lady Bulldogs score 3 runs in the 6th inning.
Macon scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning and 2 runs in the 4th inning.
Danielle Baumgartner pitched for the Lady Bulldogs. She recorded 15 strikeouts, 2 walks, and allowed 5 hits. "We got the job done tonight," Mexico Coach Christina Gerber said. "Macon had some timely hits tonight early on. We didn't give up and we kept making adjustments at the plate to pull ahead."
Mexico will face Kirksville at 7 p.m. today at Gallop Field.
