Memorial services will be held, at Elmwood Cemetery Sec. D corner of Elmwood Dr. and Liberty St, Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at 2:30 pm.
Friends and family are invited to attend.
Vernon Thomas Stuart, 84, of Mexico, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at Harry S. Truman Veteran's Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 3, 1918, in Wessington Springs, S.D., to the late Arthur Tillman and Rose Mae Tate Stuart. He married Eloise Ruth Findley in Trenton on June 21, 1940. She died Sept. 12, 2012 at the Monroe City Nursing Home.
Survivors also include two sons, James Vernon Stuart of Emden and Ira Thomas Stuart of Mexico; a sister, Mamie Anderson of Topeka, Kan.; six grandchildren, Irisha Ortwein of Fountain Hills, Pa., Tina Harding, (Hurbie) and Joey Stuart, both of Fulton, Lori Stuart, Gina Littrell Schambach (Dean) of Vandalia,
Tracey Littrell Of Columbia, Mo. Vernon Stuart II of Chicago and Tom Stuart Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Stuart served in the U.S. Navy as Seaman First Class during World War II, in the submarine service. He was awarded The America Area and the Victory Medals. He retired from A.P. Green Refractories in 1981 after 43 years of service.
They will both be missed.
