Last week was filled with homecoming activities in preparation for Friday night's homecoming game against the Kirksville Tigers. It was a chilly night as the Bulldogs took the field.
The evening started off good for the Bulldogs in the first quarter when Jamel Taylor had a 78 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
The Bulldogs were left scoreless until the fourth quarter when Matt Ridgeway threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Skylar Harrington. Kirksville also scored in the first quarter, but missed the extra point. Going into the second quarter Mexico was ahead 7-6. Kirksville scored another TD in the second quarter, this time making the extra point. The score at halftime was 19-7 Kirksville. In the third quarter Kirksville kicked a field goal making it 22-7. Mexico came back in the fourth quarter with one TD making the final score 22-14.
Mexico coach Ty Harrison stated Mexico made to many mistakes. "We had too many self-inflicted mistakes to put together four quarters. We didn't capitalize off the changes we were given," said the coach. He believes his team will get better. "We will get better if our kids keep a positive attitude and we continue to work hard," added the coach.
Harrison was pleased with Taylors kickoff return and Tyler Bracht's adding to his area wide lead in receptions with a total of 45.
The Bulldogs 1-6 overall and 0-3 in conference, will play another conference game Friday when they travel to Fulton for bragging rights in the 54 Bowl game.
