"John Misenhelter, 1963 Community Chest Drive Chairman has announced that chairmen have been selected for the various committees, and that things are rapidly taking shape for a successful drive. This year's fundraising will begin Monday. Misenhelter says the new chairmen are primed and ready, and expresses confidence that this year's goal of $36,820, would be attained before the drive's scheduled closing."

"A representative of the U.S. Railroad Retirement board will be at the Chicago, Missouri and Western depot in Mexico from 8:30-9:30 a.m., Oct. 15 to assist those with appointments concerning administration of the Railroad Retirement and Railroad Unemployment Insurance Acts. People without appointments will be assisted as time permits."

"The Mexico-Audrain County League of Women Voters held a public forum Tuesday night at Mexico High School featuring several local candidates running for office in the November election. The candidates speaking at the forum included Audrain Prosecuting Attorney candidates Jason Lamb and Randy England, 21st District State Representative candidates Steve Hobbs and Mike Groves, 18th District State Senator candidate John Cauthorn and 9th District U.S. representative candidate Keith Brekhus. The forum gave each candidate an opportunity to give timed three-minute opening statements followed by a question and answer session with questions submitted by the audience."
