  • Patsy Ruth Allen, 84, of Columbia, Mo., formerly of Centralia, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 7, 2012 at Landmark Hospital Columbia.
    Memorial services will be at Fenton Funeral Chapel, Centralia, Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at 2 p.m.
    Jed Angel, Pastor of Friendship Christian Church, Centralia, will officiate. Visitation is at Fenton Funeral Chapel, Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Interment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Centralia.
    The family suggests memorials to the Humane Society of Central Missouri.
    Patsy was born in Boone County near Hallsville, Mo. on Sept. 6, 1928, the daughter of William Thomas and Alpha Pearl (Forbis) Forsee, the third of seven children. She graduated from Hallsville High School in 1946 where she played basketball. She lived her entire life, except for about six months, in Boone County, living in Hallsville, Columbia and Centralia.
    After graduation from high school, Patsy obtained her teaching certificate from the University of Missouri and taught for a time at High Hill School, a one room school near Centralia. She also worked about 42 years for Columbia Insurance Group, originally called Farmer's Mutual Insurance Company. After retirement, she worked for several years at the American Red Cross. The abiding love of Patsy's life was children, her own, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren and many others as well. Her love and kindness truly affected many people in her life.
    Patsy was known to be a great cook, and she took great joy in baking and canning for family and friends. She also loved to write poems, and penned over the years for family and significant events.
    Survivors include her sons, Larry Allen, Kansas City, Gary Allen, Sturgeon, grandchildren, Kari Allen, Kansas City; Deja Gravitt and husband, Ray, of Waxahachie, Texas; Jae Allen and wife, Kelli, Kansas City; and Shaun Allen of Columbia; six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and two sisters, Joyce Miller, Mexico, and Martha Forsee, Columbia.
    Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, LaVern Wyatt and Mona Betz, brothers, Homer Forsee and William Joseph Forsee, her beloved granddaughter, Mandy and her niece, Mary Anne Lane.
