  • Larry Holt, 59, of Middletown, passed away October 7, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex. Burial will be in the Olney Cemetery. Visitation will be held on October 14, 2012 from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Larry Holt was born July 30, 1953 in Troy, the son of Frank Forrest and Rose Marie (Shramek) Holt. On December 15, 1973 he married Shirley Smith in Elsberry. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter Christy Hall and husband Scott of Silex; two grandchildren Maddy Rose Hall and Hunter Holton Hall; one brother Jack Holt and wife Judy of Silex; four sisters, twin sister Mary Sullivan and husband Bob of Portland, Patsy Albart and husband George of Silex, Joyce Klein and husband Fred of Silex, Linda Briner of Troy and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and God Son Mike Holt.
    He graduated from the Silex R-I High School in 1971 and continued to live and farm in the Silex/Olney area for over 40 years. Larry was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed sports of all kinds - watching football, basketball, baseball and golf. He also enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and all kinds of gambling. His favorite vacation spot was in southern Florida. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
    Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Mudd, Steve (Toad) Mudd, John Haines, Marlowe Wing, Jimmy Colbert and Billy Mudd. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Maddy Hall, Hunter Hall, Scott Hall, Jack Holt, Paul Squires, Orville (Bud) Reinwald, Gary Duvel, Ed Haines, Floyd Norton and John Spangler Jr.
    Memorials may be made to the Maddy Rose Hall and Hunter Hall Education Fund in care of Mudd Veach Funeral Home, 606 W. Main, Bowling Green. MO 63334 or to the Olney Cemetery Association.
