The Bulldog soccer team finished second in the Mexico Invitational Tournament beating Montgomery County 10-0 Saturday morning and losing to Chillicothe 4-2 in the Championship game in a rainy afternoon.
Scoring against Montgomery County were Elijah Robinson with three goals, Colin Cosby two goals and scoring one apiece were Josh Kelly, Sean Kelly, Sergey Comerzan, Sam Hobbs and Brock Fuemmeler.
Christian McKeown had three assists and Fuemmeler two. Tyler Warmbrodt had the shutout in goal.
In the championship game, Mexico played a poor half. "We played a terrible first half and Chillicothe took advantage and led 3-0 at the break. We came out strong to start the second half with Christian McKeown scoring twice in the first 10 minutes with both assists going to Sean Kelly. We were not able to sustain the momentum and Chillicothe added a late goal for the final score of 4-2," stated MHS coach Chris Hotop.
Next game for the Bulldogs is Tuesday in a conference match with the Moberly Spartains at Moberly. The junior varsity begins at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow.
