ALL-REGIONAL TEAM: At last week's North Callaway softball banquet it was announced that two North Callaway players were named to the All-Regional team. Players are chosen from the eight teams in the district.
Receiving the honor were sophomore pitcher Danielle Cassidy (second team); and junior short stop Jaida Gray (first team).
NORTH CALLAWAY: North Callaway Thunderbirds ended the regular season on a seven-game winning streak after beating Marionville Friday night 42-15.
Jacob Haubner, Thunderbirds quarterback, was 9-12 for 241 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Vance Allen and Justin Menard scored 2 TDs and kicker Cole Branson was 6-6 on PATs. Menard also had 10 carries for 71 yards, and Allen had three receptions for 94 yards.
"When we started our goal was to improve each game and we are doing that and hope to keep on doing so in district," said Coach Mike Emmons.
North Callaway 7-2 overall will begin district play at 7 p.m. at home against Hermann.
PARIS: Paris Coyotes football team finished its regular season Friday losing 49-6 to Salisbury. Zane Vaughn scored the only touchdown for Paris. The Coyotes had 38 rushing yards and 46 passing.
The Coyotes ended the regular season with an overall record of 3-6 and 2-3 in league play.
The Paris game reported Monday, Oct. 22 was played Oct. 12.
COMMUNITY R-6: On Oct. 18 Community R-6 Junior High basketbal girls played Marion County in the Madison Tournament. The final score was 27-8. Top scorers for this game were Alissa Curtis with 22, 6 for 7 from the line and Danie Jackson with 5, one being a 3-pointer. Winning this game put them into the championship against Higbee.
In the championship game Oct. 19 Commuity R-6 was victorious over Highbee 32-16. Top scorers for this game were Alissa Curtis with 14, 2 for 4 from the line and Lexus LaGesse with 8. Chelsea Hoyt had the most assists with 4. Overall the team had 10 steals and 14 defensive rebounds.
Their next game will be at home on Oct. 26 against Mark Twain. The game starts at 6 p.m. followed by the junior high boys.
