Season ends with loss in district play

First-year Mexico High School football coach Ty Harrison and his team ended the season Friday night with a 42-0 loss in district play against the Hannibal Pirates, the number one seed.
Coach Harrison said his Bulldogs were overmatched by a very good team. The Bulldogs did however have a chance to play younger players. "We had an opportunity to play some young players and get them some varsity experience," said MHS coach.
Matt Ridgway had 100 passing yards, while Tyler Bracht led the defense with nine tackles.
The Pirates struck early with three touchdowns in the first quarter, followed by one in the second and two in the third.
Hannibal advances and will play Wednesday night against the number five seed Marshall Owls, who defeated the number four seed Moberly Spartans 20-17 in one overtime.
