Marion W. Patterson, 79 of Mexico, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at Golden Living Center – Pin Oaks.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends after the service. Her ashes will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012.
Marion was born on Feb. 13, 1933 in Fitchburg, MA, the daughter of Carl Billings and Caroline (Woods) Willard. On June 15, 1957 she married Clyde Harris Patterson, Jr. in Townsend, MA. At the time of their marriage, she worked at the First National Bank of Boston in the international sales dept. She became an Army wife, traveling with her husband and taking on the duties associated with that. When Col. Patterson retired in 1978, they moved to Mexico.
She was an ordained Deacon and Elder in the First Presbyterian Church and served on many committees and sessions and was also active in P.W.O.C. She was a member of P.E.O., Chapter DK, Wednesday Club, active in the Hospital Auxiliary and many other clubs and organizations.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Willard U. Patterson and Allyn of Berkeley Springs, WV, daughter Ann H. Hirsch and David of Westminster, MD, and daughter Caroline Groves and John of Mexico, MO; seven grandchildren, Abigail J. Hirsch, Milton I. Hirsch, Andrew H. Groves, Jordan B. Patterson, Zachary C. Groves, Taylor M. Patterson, and Zelda E. Hirsch and one sister, Caroline W. Clark of Elma N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL, 32256.
