  • Wesley A. River, 92, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.
    Wesley Andrew River was born November 5, 1919, in Truxton, MO, to Andrew Adolph River and Amelia Carolina Christina Sievert River. Wesley married Ruby Faye Blackburn on March 29, 1945 in Warrenton, MO. She preceded him in death on September 20, 1982. To this marriage were born Gary Dean River and Carol Sue River Worley. On June 2, 1984 he married Elaine Hall in Montgomery City, MO. Wesley farmed his entire life, was a very hard worker and was very active in the community. Wesley received the Outstanding Innovator Award from the University of Missouri in Columbia for his contribution to the development and dissemination of agricultural engineering technology. He was a member of the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, MO, holding many offices throughout the years. He was a Montgomery County Fair President and enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, especially at Art's Food Shop in Montgomery City.
    Mr. River is survived by his wife, Elaine Hall River of Montgomery City, MO; son, Gary River and wife, Grace, of Montgomery City, MO; daughters: Carol Sue River Worley and husband, Gary, of Mexico, MO; and Kathy Hall Meyer and husband, Kerry, of Lee Summit, MO; grandchildren: Gia Eichelberger and husband, Jim; Ted Worley and wife, Brandy; Jill Buatte and husband, Kyle; Andy River and wife Kista; Kory Callihan and husband, Justin; and Katelin Meyer; Great-grandchildren: Emma and Jay Eichelberger, Gage Worley, Kaden and Kennedy Buatte, Brooke and Taylor River and Evelyn Callihan. Also surviving is his brother, Bob River and wife, Betty, of Montgomery City, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
    Mr. River was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Faye Blackburn River and one sister, Mildred Miller.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Ed Hankinson will officiate and interment will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-5:00PM at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers include Andy River, Ted Worley, Jim Eichelberger, Kyle Buatte, Bobby River and Gene Whyte.
