"While Oct. 19 was certainly a dismal day for investors and stockbrokers alike, as the Dow Jones Industrials dropped 506 points in a day of frantic selling on the New York Stock Exchange, that historic day and other recent Wall Street waverings might actually help the real estate business – at least in the short term. According to Jim Dye, of Peak, Dye and Associates, with investors liquidating their paper money from the stock market, more money is available for investors to buy various financial issues, including treasury bills. Accordingly, Mr. Dye said, the government is able to sell treasury bills at lower rates of return, which translates to lower rates for home buyers."

"Now that the city of Auxvasse has passed its bond issue, city officials say work will begin on the $1.3 million project of repairing the wastewater treatment facilities in the summer of 2003. Auxvasse residents voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday in favor of the bond issue. The final tally was 205 "yes" and 54 "no" votes. "we're going to start work on it next summer and do some things, but the majority of the work will be done next fall," said Auxvasse City Clerk Lisa Brandenburg."
