"Bargains at prices you cannot fail to see a saving in, free moving pictures and a band is a partial program of the last week in November as arranged Tuesday evening at a meeting of Mexico merchants. They intend holding a monster pre-holiday event offering prizes for the largest load of women brought to the sale in one wagon, the largest amount of poultry brought by one person and several other prizes if the full plans materialize."

"A public hearing will be held by the Mexico City Council Dec. 10 on a zoning commission recommendation for re-zoning of a tract between E. Liberty and E. Holt St. Councilmen set the hearing last night in a meeting at which they also enacted the last of the 1962 seal coating tax bill ordinances and pawnshop regulation ordinance. The city police court will have possible new combinations of punishment for misdemeanor violations if another ordinance is finally enacted. It was given first and second readings by unanimous votes last night."

"Norman Merrell, D-Monticello, state senator for the 18th District was at Mexico Junior High School this morning, speaking to seventh-and eight-grade students from the Seagul program. While the focus of his presentation was describing the intricacies of passing a bill, he later addressed several key issues of the upcoming legislative session."

"Democrat Terry Witte of Vandalia won his first term in the Missouri House of Representatives on election day Nov. 5. Witte defeated Republican challenger Gary Linnenbringer of Auxvasse for the 10th District House seat by a narrow margin of 512 carrying 52 percent of the tally. The 10th District was drastically changed last December when State House lines were redrawn by redistricting. The new 10th District covers portions of Callaway, Lincoln, Audrain and Montgomery counties and all of Pike County."
