Agnes M. Whelan, 95 of Mexico died Friday November 16, 2012 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday November 21, 2012 at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Mexico with burial to follow at St. Brendan Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
Agnes was born on July 17, 1917 in Johanna, MO to Lambert and Lois Little.
On October 31, 1935 in Indian Creek, MO Agnes married James F. Whelan; he preceded her in death on July 3, 1975.
Agnes worked as a pastry cook for Lewis' Restaurant, and later worked and retired from Continental Bag in Mexico.
Survivors include three sons, Alfred Whelan of Mexico, John Whelan of Portland, OR, James Whelan of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Cecilia Brigance of Mokane, Lucille McLaughlin of Centralia, IL; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Little of Monroe City, Pearl Little of Shelbina; six sisters, Helen Gosney of Monroe City, Theresa and Edgar Teague of Vandalia, Rita and Bill Taylor of Monroe City, Anna Beth and Bud Kunce of Shelbina, Dorothy Hammond of Shelbina, Sue and Leroy Roberts of Monroe City; a sister-in-law, Mary Whelan of Perry; many nieces and nephews she whom she loved greatly.
Along with her husband, Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Brendan Catholic Church or The Special Olympics in care of Arnold Funeral Home 425 S. Jefferson Mexico, MO 65265.
