Lyllis Zeda Mongler, 96 of Mexico, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at the King's Daughters Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Stanford officiating. Visitation is Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Laddonia Cemetery.
Lyllis was born on Sept. 3, 1916 in Page County, Iowa, the daughter of Joe E. and Della May (Wetmore) Luhr. On Nov. 1, 1941 in Jefferson City, she married Joseph F. Mongler. He died on May 10, 1966.
Mrs. Mongler had lived on the Mongler Centennial Farm for 66 years. She was a member of Sunrise Christian Church and had been a member of the Mexico Area YMCA from 1983-2009.
Lyllis liked to fish, garden and swim. She was a lifeguard and taught her kids, grandkids and many neighbors how to swim. Mrs. Mongler was also a great seamstress and cook.
Survivors include her children, Clifford Mongler and wife, Glenna of Columbia, Dee Dunlap and husband, Kenneth of Laddonia and Ricky Mongler and wife, Lou of Mexico; nine grandchildren, Marcia (Robert) Shumate, Rhonda (Kendall) Blythe, Amy (Adam) Sandwell, Geoffrey Dunlap, Terry (Angie) Dunlap, Kari (Joey) Wilson, Eric (Chris) Mongler, Jake (Andrea) Mongler and Josh (Ashley) Mongler; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Lyllis was preceded in death by one sister, Zenaide Luhr.
