  • CENTRALIA TOURNAMENT (GIRLS): The North Callaway Ladybirds came home with the Centralia Tournament basketball trophy with a 43-38 decision over the Macon Tigers. Madison Sorell and Tara Oberlag each scored 13 points for North Callaway. Jaida Gray had 7 points and led the team with 5 assists. Serell led the team with 7 rebounds. For Macon Audrey Freeman scored 11 points.
    The Ladybirds led by as much as 13 points, but used their substitutes and Macon cut it to five at the end. "The girls played a great ball game and it was nice to win a tournament early in the season. We look forward to opening conference play Monday (tonight) at Clopton," said North Callaway coach Jack Peace.
    STURGEON 39, SALISBURY 38: In a close game that came down to the wire, Sturgeon beat Salisbury when Molly Gregory knocked down a 3-pointer with 7.9 seconds left to give Sturgeon the lead and the win. Gregory scored 18 points and her teammate Julia Galloway scored 13. For Salisbury Sarah Willhite scored 11.
    BOONVILLE 52, CENTRALIA 47: Morgan Edwards scored 18 points for Boonville and Addyson Reardon added 14. For Centralia Katie Crigler scored 16 with teammate Krista Armontrout with 15 points.
    ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM: Madison Dorres, Jaida Gray, North Callaway; Molly Gregory, Sturgeon; Morgan Edwards, Boonville; Kristen Armontrout, Centralia; Audrey Freeman, Macon; Hannah Nicolay, Sabrina Burris, Salisbury; Valerie Schmidt, Macon; Maddie Embree, Sturgeon.
    CENTRALIA TOURNAMENT (BOYS): In the championship game, Southern Boone pulled out a win over Salisbury 53-52.
    With Salisbury trailing 51-49, Austin Francis converted a score and bonus to take the lead 52-51 with 12 seconds remaining. However, Nick Carlos would answer when he drew a two-shot foul on the block attempt by Austin Francis with four seconds remaining. After a timeout by Salisbury, Carlos went to the line and drained both to regain the lead for good. Zach Wyatt's shot from the top of the key went off the front of the rim in Salisbury's last possession. For Southern Boone, Blake Lammers and Nick Carlos each scored 20 points, while Frankie Greisbach scored 15. Zach Wyatt led Salisbury with 14 points, followed by Austin Francis with 13 and Austin Wyatt, 11.
    STURGEON 69, HALLSVILLE 68: Coming down to one final shot at the buzzer, Sturgeon took third place over Hallsville. Down 66-68 with time running out, Sturgeon's Brayden Kelly hit a basket from 20 feet as the buzzer sounded, to propel Sturgeon to their only lead of the contest. Caleb Wells of Sturgeon led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Trenton Kalinowski with 17 and Spencer Kelly, 12. For Hallsville Brendan Beatty and Nathan Katz each scored 15, while Ryan Long scored 14 and Sean Wooten scored 13.
    BOONVILLE 62, NORTH CALLAWAY 51. For Boonville Guage Sharp scored 17 points, Gus Kemp and Jay Barnhart added 12 points each, while Damario Walker scored 11. Zach Eads scored 15 points for North Callaway and Jacob Haubner added 11. Miguel Hudson had 6 steals. "We got off to a slow start which hurt us. You can't to that against a quality team," said North Callaway coach Tim Turlington.
