The Lady Bulldogs struggled on offense Monday night against the Kirksville Lady Tigers losing 54-22. Mexico did not have one player in double figures and scoring only two points in the fourth quarter. "Obviously not a good showing last night, poor shooting and poor execution on offense led to a lop sided score," stated MHS coach Ed Costley.
"I didn't have us prepared to play last night. We struggled to maintain our defensive assignments which allowed them easy baskets. We need to find way to bounce back," added the coach. Anne Baker played strong game on both ends of floor giving some stability at times.
Kirksville had a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Mexico only shot 15 percent from the field while Kirskville shot 54 percent. Mexico was 62 percent at the free throw line and was 0-7 from 3-point range.
Top scorers for Mexico were seniors Anne Baker and Brooke Costley. Baker scored 6, had 1 assist, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Costley also scored 6 points, had 1 block, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Kelli Ingrum led the team in rebounds with 6. Kirksville was led by senior Nicole Cook with 15 points followed by senior Kendyl Blanke with 10.

The junior varsity also lost with the final scored 29-23. Ali Mudd was the top scorer for Mexico with 8. She also led in rebounds with 4. Kaitlin Ingrum led in steals with 5.
