Three incumbents file for re-election this morning

Filing for the April municipal elections officially opened today, with seats available on the Mexico City Council, Mexico Board of Education, the 911 Emergency Services Board, the Audrain County Health Board, Audrain Ambulance District and the Audrain Medical Center Board of Trustees.
Filing this morning were school board incumbents Dr. M. Elwood Rice and Robby Miller and Chris Williams filed for re-election to the city council.
City and county clerks began excepting statements of candidacy at 8 a.m. today and will stop at 5 p.m. on Jan. 15. The General election day will be April 2, 2013.
One seat is available on the Mexico City Council, two seats are available on the Mexico Board of Education and both are three-year terms.
The Audrain Ambulance District has an opening in Sub District 3 and one in Sub District 6 for three-year terms. District Three includes the voting precincts of Mexico 3 Eastern District and Mexico 6. District Six includes the Community 8 and 6 South Fork Township.
The Audrain Medical Center Board of Trustees has one seat open with a five-year term and four 911 emergency service board members are to be elected – two in the eastern county commission district and two residing in the western county commission district. The 911 board seats are four-year terms.
Declarations will be accepted for the office of trustee for the Audrain County Health Board – two to be elected for a four-year term and three to be elected for two-year terms.
Applications for the city council can be filed at City Hall, 300 N. Coal St., in the city clerk's office. County seats should be filed for in the Audrain County Clerk's office, located in Room 101 the Audrain County Courthouse, in Mexico.
Anyone interested in running for a school board opening may file from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the superintendent's office, located at 1201 Lakeview Rd. Filing will not occur on days the school district is closed due to inclement weather or scheduled holidays.
The filing period for candidates closes Jan. 15. Requirements for candidacy depend on the entity offering the position and can be obtained by contacting the appropriate city or county clerk's office. The election will be held Tuesday, April 2.
