2,544 customers temporarily without power

An equipment malfunction at an AmerenMissouri substation near Mexico caused a power outage this morning that left more than 2,500 Ameren customers without electricity.
According to an Ameren spokesman, the outage occurred in the 9 o'clock hour "and lasted a half hour or so."
"At the peak of the outage, 2,544 customers were without electricity. We were able to get everyone back up pretty quickly, and we apologize for any inconvenience," the spokesman said.
