NORTH CALLAWAY BOYS: What started out as a close game ended up with an 11-point deficit when Clopton pulled away in the third quarter making it a 58-47 decision for the Hawks.
North Callaway had only one player in double figures. Jacob Haubner scored 10 points for the Thunderbirds followed by teammate Brett Metcalf with 9. Miguel Hudson led the team with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
"We have to be more consistent at both ends," stated North Callaway coach Tim Turlington.

North Callaway 3-3 overall and 0-1 conference, plays again at home Friday which is the school's courtwarming. The junior varsity girls play at 5 p.m. with the varsity girls at 6 p.m. and the varsity boys to follow. The crowning of the courtwarming king and queen will be held after the boys' game.
The junior varsity team also lost to Clopton 34-30. Michael Pezold led North Callaway with 13 points. The JV team is 1-2.
COMMUNITY R-6 BOYS: Community R-6 basketball boys traveled to Wright City Tuesday and took care of business with a 54-22 decision over the Wildcats.
Lane Thebeau led the Trojans with 11 points with Cody Thebeau adding 9 points, Conner Brooks posting 8 and Justin Durham scoring 7. Shane Myers hit one 3-point basket. Sean Wilson brought down 6 rebounds with Durham and Myers each having 4 rebounds. Cody Thebeau had 3 assists and Wilson had 3 steals.
The Trojans are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Conference.
COMMUNITY R-6 GIRLS: The key for Community R-6 Lady Trojans basketball team Tuesday was their defensive effort. "In our first four games teams were averaging 15 points per game against us. We have been vey solid on the glass not giving up many offensive boards," said R-6 coach Bob Curtis.
Paige Curtis set the tone on the front of the Trojan's press with 5 steals, 17 points, and 7 rebounds in the Trojan's victory over Wright City 41-8. Page Curtis also had 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Emmalee McCoskey contributed to the scoring with 6 points and Leah Mays added 5 points.
The undefeated (4-0) Lady Trojans will play tonight against Monroe City which according to their coach will be a tough test as he believes they are still undefeated at this point in their season. They won their tournament last week with a win over Palmyra.
PARIS BOYS: The Paris Coyotes are still looking for their first varsity win after losing on the road to Slater 54-46 on Tuesday. Paris had three plays in double figures, Slater Stone scored 15 including 1 at the free throw line. Brant Frances and Zane Lockhart each scored 10 points, with Brand hitting two 3-pointers. Stone and Lockhart also were aggressive on the boards with 10 rebounds each.
