    "W.G. Quaintance, of Boston, is here investigating the Mexico, Santa Fe and Perry Traction Co. line between here and Molino, for a St. Louis financier. If his report should be satisfactory, the St. Louis man may try to buy or aid in building the line further."

    "Craig Van Matre, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Van Matre, 1725 Reavis Rd., has been named a principal appointee to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., for 1963, Rep. Clarence Cannon announced today. His acceptance will depend on the outcome of the entrance examination academic test and a final physical examination. Craig, 17, has already passed the preliminary physical exam. A senior at Mexico High School, Craig has lettered in basketball and tennis, is a member of the Key Club and the M Club."

    "Audrain Medical Center's food service department is sponsoring a unique mitten tree this year in the cafeteria area. Other AMC employees are helping with the decorations, which include mittens, scarves and hats. In the baskets under its branches can be found canned and other packaged foods. All donations will be given to needy families in the area prior to Christmas."

    "Arlina Klusman and Josh Mongler, seniors at Mexico Senior High School, were awarded the Wise Courtesy Award at the annual MHS Christmas assembly today. It was the 64th annual presentation of the award. The award is in honor of the late Mrs. F.M. Wise, who specified that the cash awards be presented to the most courteous senior boy and girl during the Christmas assembly. Klusman is the daughter of James and Louise Klusman. She has been active in FFA, Biology Club, and Honors Choir of which she is president. She is statistician for the boys varsity basketball team and music leader at the Kentucky Road Christian Church. Mongler is the son of Ricky and Lou Mongler. He has been active in Key Club, Biology Club, Speech and Theatre Club, Solar Bike Rayce team, Academic Quiz Bowl Team, French Club, A+ participant and peer mediator. He is also a member of the soccer and tennis teams and was chosen by the high school faculty as a Student of the Month.
