  • PARIS GIRLS: The opening game of the Madison Tournament on Wednesday was the fourth game in as many school days for the Lady Coyotes. That poses a challenge for any team during any point of the season. "It's tough on the mind and the body, but I thought we handled those four games very well and put together a good four-game winning streak." remarked PHS coach Chris Willingham. Paris came out strong early jumping out to a 12-2 lead, but struggled for the remainder of the first half to put Wellsville away. The final score was 50-18. "We challenged our team to come out in the second half and play our tempo and we did that very well scoring 25 points in the third quarter alone. We were very focused and used our defense to create our offense," stated Willingham. The Lady Coyotes used the fourth quarter to rotate players and work on improving certain aspects of the game. "I am very happy with our effort in the second half and encouraged going forward knowing that if we put two complete halves together we will be a tough matchup for a lot of teams," said Willingham. Paris heads into a much needed break 6-4 and in the championship semi-finals of the Madison tournament.
Top scorer for Paris was Payton Gruber with 22. Haley Frederick has 7P, Shelby Dickey and Dede Bounds each scored 5P, Leah Ensor and Kaylee Callison added 4P each.
