Martha Margaret Meng, 92 of Mexico, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 at Golden Living Center - Pin Oaks.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation is Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Martha Margaret Meng was born June 14, 1920, the only child of Everett Woodson Meng from New Bloomfield and Chloe (Cook) Meng from Holts Summit. The Mengs were newcomers to Mexico but soon became active citizens of the community.
When Martha reached school age, she enjoyed and profited from all benefits of the Mexico School System and was an early member of the National Society.
After graduating from Mexico High School in 1938, she worked in Jefferson City for one session of the Missouri Legislature and returned to Mexico to start employment with Mexico Refractories Company, a newly formed corporation in the fire brick industry. She remained there until retirement in September 1982.
Martha liked people as evidenced by her membership in the First Presbyterian Church, AMC Auxiliary, Audrain County Historical Society, Mexico YMCA, Mexico Country Club and various other organizations where she was an active volunteer. She also enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer.
Martha has enjoyed a wide circle of friends and will be missed.
