The 1957 model car will also be used as an auxiliary police car and by other departments as needed, and the six-wheel drive truck will be used to flush streets, as well as for Civil Defense fire use, City Manager Robert Semple said. The city paid $100 for the 1957 Chevrolet which had previously been used by Military Police and $200 for the six-by-six Army truck. A 2,000 gallon water tank will be mounted on the truck with a 500-gallon per minute pump for Civil Defense fire use in case of emergency. Meanwhile, it will be used in cleaning streets, the city manager said. Cost of the truck, new, was $6,617, Semple said. Original cost of the car was $1,257."
