On Saturday, the Lady Dawgs came back to beat Jefferson City 58-46. Coach Costley said it was nice to finish off the week with a win. He said he wasn't sure what the team would have left in the tank after two physical games the first two days. "The girls executed and handled Jeff City's pressure," said the coach. Getting solid scoring from Kelli Ingrum in the paint helped relieve some pressure from the guards.
Jeff City cut the lead by 4 in the fourth but the Lady Bulldogs kept their composure and extended back to double digits.
Cassie Schmidt was selected to the All-Academic Team and Brooke Costley was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Junior Kelli Ingrum was on fire scoring 17 points, bringing down 6 rebounds and had 3 steals. Costley scored 14 points, brought down 5 rebounds and had 4 steals, followed by Karen Baker with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

COMMUNITY R-6: The Cairo Lady Bearcats came out on fire Wednesday night in the first round of the Madison Tournament, hitting seven 3 pointers in the first half and taking a 26-19 lead into the locker room. The Lady Trojans however won both of the final frames by a score of 10-9 and 20-0 resulting in a 49-44 victory over the Lady Bearcats.
"I knew we would have to weather the storm and eventually their terrific perimeter shooting was going to end if we could just hand around within a few possession," said R-6 coach Bob Curtis. Cairo is having a great season and are 8-3 with a few quality wins so Curtis knew it would be a close contest throughout. Paige Curtis had a monster game inside against a smaller Lady Bearcats team, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds on the night. Emmalee McCoskey also had a good night pitching in 9 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. Curtis said one of the keys for his team wad dept. Cairo can relly apply full court pressure that can wear a team down if they do not have a deep bench. "I thought guards Julie Hale and Danielle Brooks did a magnificent job taking care of the ball against a scrappy extremely quick basketball team," said Curtis. The two added a combined 9 points and 6 assists to help in the victory.
For Cairo Megan Bosch hit three 3-point baskets, while Caitlin Canote dropped in two 3-pointers.
