Lena Mae Stewart, 82, of Mexico, died at 10:34 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Audrain Medical Center.
Services will be at held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico with Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Lena was born on February 3, 1930, in Sturgeon, a daughter of Clifton and Ada Mae (Barnes) Duvall. On April 6, 1949, she married Joe Smith who preceded her in death on September 3, 1973. On September 26, 1974, she married Homer D. Stewart who preceded her in death on March 14, 1981.
She was a member of Kentucky Road Christian Church in Mexico. She played varsity basketball in high school. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory from 1947-1979. She then did private care for 10 years.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Dale Smith and wife Donna May of Centralia, and Sammy Joe Smith and wife Sonya Gay, Centralia; three grandchildren, Zach, Greg and Jesse Smith; four great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Lloyd of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to both husbands and her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kentucky Road Christian Church. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
