"Mexico people sent out more money during 1912 than they received, according to the report of the money order business for 1912 at the Mexico Post Office. The postal officials here issued money orders aggregating $52,682.29 during the past year, but only paid $25,772.13, not quite one-half as much as was sent out. According to the report, the money order clerks at the Mexico office issued 9,202 domestic money orders and 43 international ones. The domestic orders totaled $51,572.49 for which the senders paid only $516.77 fees."

"Ledgerlanders prepare today for the onset of a cold wave that threatens to be the most severe yet this winter. The wave already was seeping into this area this morning marked by dense fog and much cooler temperatures. The weather bureau predicts that snow will start tonight accumulating to 1 to 3 inches by morning. Temperatures will drop tonight to about 10 degrees. The widespread bitter cold wave follows two days of warmth in which the temperature rose to a high of 63 degrees yesterday, far above normal for this time of year. Despite the fog, there were no traffic accidents reported to the highway patrol in this area this morning."

"The home of J.R. and Sherry McCurdy and their three sons, ages 5, 6 and 8, sustained major damage in a fire reported at 11:24 p.m. Thursday. (They were renting the home.). Fire Chief Donnie Uhey said most of the attic area and roof were burned and there was water damage to the remainder of the home. He said the fire was caused by an improperly installed wood stove."

"Bunge Ltd., the parent company of Bunge Foods plant in Mexico and DuPont Technologies announce a joint venture that will develop ingredients for soy-based products. The venture, called Solae LLC, is expected to begin operations later in the year and generate $800 million in worldwide sales. Solae is based at the headquarters of DuPont in St. Louis. DuPont will control 60 percent of the company while Bunge will own a 28 percent stake. Bunge will also have the option to increase its stake to 40 percent."
