The Mexico High School Lady Bulldogs basketball team advances to the championship game of the Warrior Winter Shootout in Warrenton on Friday. The top seed Bulldogs and No. 2 seed Duchesne will play for the championship with a 7 p.m. tipoff. Duchesne beat Fort Zumwalt North 41-25.
The Lady Dawgs struggled early defensively Wednesday night against Francis Howell North with their speed, but came out on top at the end of the game 48-38. "Anne Baker had a good start hitting from the outside," said MHS Coach Ed Costley. The coach said all the players had a good performance but "we need to continue improving on closing out games."
Seniors Brooke Costley and Anne Baker led the team in scoring. Costley scored 15 points including 2 three-pointers. She was also 3 for 4 at the free throw line. Anne Baker scored 8, and was 2 for 2 at 3-point range. Kelli Ingrum led in rebounds with 10.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 7-5 overall for the season.

EIGHTH GRADE BOYS: On Tuesday night the Mexico eighth grade boys lost to Moberly in a tight game, 35 to 34.
"Although we lost I could not be happier with the way the team played. The same Moberly team beat us by 32 Friday night. Although not everyone scored, everyone played their role and had a major effect in the success of our team," said MMS coach Kyle Louder.
Leading scorers for MMS were: Cameron Palmer 18; Miguel Vega 9; Clay Jeffrey 5; and Chris Campbell 2
In the B game Moberly won, 19-5.
Leading scorers for MMS were D'Von Nunnelly with 3 and Cameron Evans 2.
PARIS BOYS: The Coyotes came up short Tuesday night against Westran (Huntsville) by 10 points – 49-39.
For Paris Slater Stone came up with 13 points, followed by Brant Francis with 9; Britton Francis and Zane Lockhart, 5 points each; Bryce Ensor, 4; and Laine Forrest 3. Stone also led in rebounds with 9. Brant Francis brought down 5 rebounds; Britton Francis and Bryce Ensor had 3 rebounds each, Forrest had 2, Lockhart had 1.
The Coyotes are 1-11 overall for the season and 0-3 in league play.

NORTH CALLAWAY BOYS: Wednesday night in the South Callaway Tournament, the No. 4 seed North Callaway, lost to the top seed New Haven in a close matchup with the 47-43 victory going to New Haven.
"I felt we played better than Monday when we won," stated NorCal coach Tim Turlington. "New Haven is a quality ball club," added Turlington.
Brett Metcalf came off the bench and led North Callaway with 12 points. Justin Murphy scored 11 points. Jacob Haubner brought down 8 rebounds and had 5 assists.
North Callaway, 7-4 plays Saturday at 3:30 for third place against South Callaway.
