The Mexico High School Bulldogs were defeated Thursday night by Fatima 51-42 in a non-conference game in the semi-finals of the California Tournament. The Bulldogs were sluggish throughout the first half but found a way to tie the game at 18-18 at the half. They continued to struggle offensively in the second half and were outscored 15-9 in the fourth quarter.
Jake Willer led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points, and Jake Anderson contributed 9 points and 11 rebounds. The Bulldogs drop to 10-3 on the season, and 3-0 in the NCMC. They will play Boonville for third place at 4 p.m. Saturday.

EIGHTH GRADE BOYS: The Mexico eighth grade boys lost to Boonville Thursday night 39-28.

The Bulldogs will finish up their season Monday night at Montgomery County.
The B team lost by a score of 24-0.
EIGHTH GRADE GIRLS: The Mexico Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team played host to Boonville on Thursday.
The final score for the A game was Boonville 32, Mexico 9.
"We struggled with their press and the third quarter was really where they pulled away. They hit a trio of three pointers and had a couple of fast breaks and we just couldn't generate much offense in the second half to answer their run," stated MMS coach Cindy Allison.
Leaders for MMS were: Kronesha Belcher 4P/8R/2S, Sydny Hull 3P/2R, and Taylor Brown 2P.
Their record is 4-10 overall.
In the B game (2 quarters) Mexico was victorious 19-16.
"This was a close back and forth game that came down to the wire. The girls fought really hard and got key steals and key baskets when we needed it," said Allison.
Leaders for MMS were: Anna Proctor 6P/4R, Savanna Bradley 6P/6S, Tamijah Williams 5P/4S, and Brooke Ransom 2P.
The B team is 4-1 overall.
The girls will play at home at 6 p.m. Monday against Montgomery County.
NORTH CALLAWAY GIRLS: The Ladybirds had trouble finding the basket Thursday night against New Haven in the South Callaway Tournament. The Ladybirds scored 10 in the first quarter, 7 in the second, 7 in the third and 22 in the fourth quarter with the final 52-49 in favor of New Haven. With 56 seconds left in the game the Ladybirds were down by 9 and fought to get back into the game. At the buzzer Tara Oberlag shot a three-pointer to tie the game, but was unable to score.

Maddie Sorrell led North Callaway with 17 points, with 8 of those points coming in the first quarter. She also led in rebounds with 9. Jaida Gray had 14 points, 12 of them coming in the fourth quarter. Oberlag was the most consistent player for the evening scoring 12 points with two 3-pointers. Elaine Brinker had 6 points and 4 steals.
North Callaway 10-2 overall, plays for third place at 2 p.m. Saturday against Russellville.
JUNIOR VARSITY GIRLS: The JV team won 45-6 against Missouri School of the Death with Taylor Hollenberg leading the way with 15 points. Their record is 2-8.
JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS: The JV team won 41-27 against MSD varsity team. The boys are 5-2 overall.
FRESHMEN: The Freshmen boys beat MSD 38-23. North Callaway's record is 2-5 overall.
