Cora Jane Debo, 95, of Mexico, formerly of Wellsville, passed away at 10:18 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at her home in Mexico, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Wellsville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Wellsville. Father Bill Debo and Rev. Mark Spence will officiate. Mrs. Margaret Scott will serve as organist.
Burial will be in the Wellsville Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark David, Austin Debo, Nathan Debo, Derek Foreman, Mike Mitchell and Nick Paladin.
Mrs. Debo was born Nov. 5, 1917 in Fulton, Mo., the daughter of Frederick Mayshack and Jalie Lula Qualls Hudlin.
On Feb. 8, 1936, in Mexico, Mo., she married Floyd William Debo. They shared 54 wonderful years of marriage before he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1990.
Cora had lived at her home in Wellsville since 1964, before moving to Mexico in October of 2011. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell until she retired on Nov. 9, 1978.
Cora was a m ember of the Wellsville United Methodist-Presbyterian Church, where she was also a member of the Church Women United. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 388, Montgomery City.
Cora enjoyed cooking, raising flowers, and gardening. She loved camping with her family and enjoyed their family reunions at Sportsman Lake. She looked forward to the annual Debo fish fry on Salt River with her church where they enjoyed horseshoes, softball, fishing and looking for arrowheads.
She is survived by one son, Richard Lee "Chub" Debo of Wellsville; five grandchildren and spouses, Catherine Lynne "Cathy" and John Orf of Safety Harbor, Fla., Carole Jane and Mark David of Wellsville, LeeAnn Michelle and Nick Paladin of Mexico, Laura Beth and Kevin Kemp of Mexico and Nathan Lee Debo and fiancee Holly Schudel of Mexico; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd William Debo; daughter-in-law, Mary Edress Debo; great-grandson, Logan Ray Foreman; sister, Martha Frances Elizabeth Odem; stepbrother, Joe Kaufman and two stepsisters, Dorothy Landrum and Rosetta Gentry.
