The Mexico Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 9-7 in the first quarter, but Warrensburg rallied back to take an 18-11 lead. The Bulldogs took a timeout, made some defensive adjustments and finished the quarter outscoring Warrensburg 16-3 to lead 27-21 at the half. The Bulldogs continued to defend in the second half and held the Tigers to 13 second half points, while posting 23 second half points. The Bulldogs were very stingy on the defensive end and executed in the half-court to post their 12th victory of the season.
Coach Brennan Scanlon was pleased with the effort the boys are giving at both ends of the court. "We are really starting to communicate on the defensive end of the floor. Jaeon Nunnelly gave us a big boost off the bench tonight especially in the second quarter when we were struggling on the offensive end," stated the MHS coach.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: The Mexico Lady Bulldogs' winning streak came to an end Saturday night against the Helias Crusaders in the Gary Filbert Classic.
The Lady Dawgs struggled in the beginning of the game and were down by 7 points at the end of the first quarter. They battled back in the second quarter and outscored the Crusaders by 8. Mexico went into the locker room with a one point lead, 31-30. In the third quarter the Lady Dawgs increased their lead to 7 and still had the lead at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Crusaders took the lead in the fourth quarter and kept the Lady Bulldogs to 6 points in the quarter. The final was 56-45 Helias.
"After a slow start we were able to get our offense going from the three point line. Coming in we knew we were at a disadvantage size wise and felt the magic number of 10 threes would be needed to put us in position to win. Second half shooting went cold scoring only 6 points in the fourth and Helias took advantage of their size inside. We'll need to bounce back and get ready for the run of confernce play the next few weeks," stated MHS coach Ed Costley.
