Robert H. Coatsworth passed away Jan. 22, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. at the age of 87. He was born and grew up in Mexico, Mo. and lived several years in Kansas City, and Jonesboro, Ark. before retiring to Springfield. Bob graduated from the Mexico, Mo. high school, served in the Army Air Corps during WW II, and received his law degree from the Kansas City University, now UMKC. After being an active attorney in Mexico and Kansas City he became bank VP Trust Officer in Kansas City, then Jonesboro.
He was a member of the Rotary Club in Kansas City and the Optimist Club in Jonesboro. He enjoyed golf, having shot two hole-in-one; reading, playing bridge and chess, vacation travel trips, and interacting with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Greg and wife Janet of Seattle; his daughter, donna and husband Dennis McPherson of Lees Summit, Mo.; and his grandson, Thomas of Richmond, Va.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alan Coatsworth; his mother Anne Coatsworth; his sister, Cynthia Gilman; and his brother, Alan DeWitt Coatsworth.
The family appreciated the excellent loving care he received at the Mount Vernon, Mo. Veterans' Home during the last years of his life.
The Greenlawn South Funeral Home will direct the cremation in preparation for the family services which will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo.
