Beverly Annette Jordan Smoot, 86, of Athens, died Friday afternoon, January 25, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Mexico, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Beverly and Gertrude Fry Jordan, one time social editor of the Mexico Ledger.
She was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, also a member of Alexander Keith Chapter of DAR and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She had attended Central Missouri College and did volunteer work.
She is survived by her husband, Bransford Amon Smoot of Athens, one daughter, Ms. Melody D. Smoot of Wichita, Kansas, three sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Thomas R. and Dolores Smoot of Centereach, NY, Dr. Richard J. and Cheryl Smoot of Columbus, Ohio and Professor Stephen A. Smoot and wife Young Ju Lee of Seoul, Korea, six grandchildren, Brian, Kathryn, Eric, Sarah, Anna and Hannah Smoot, and one great-grandchild, Rafael Zayas.
A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Dennie Humphreys officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1, Athens, TN 37371-0001.
