Dorothy Brandenburg Stumbaugh, 91, of Montgomery City, Mo., died at 12:25 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at her home in Montgomery City, Mo.
Dorothy Marie Stumbaugh was born June 14, 1921 in Montgomery City, Mo., to John Tina Brandenburg and Ida Mae Bryant Brandenburg. She graduated from Montgomery City High School and later married Gerald Francis Hilkemeyer. In 1961, Dorothy married Jacob Stumbaugh and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Dorothy attended the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City and enjoyed taking long rides in the country. She also enjoyed doing crafts, making Christmas ornaments, reading, sewing, working in her flowers, but her biggest love was playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stumbaugh is survived by three children: Jerry Hilkemeyer and wife, Pearl; Judy Cunningham and husband, Wm. Peter; and Larry Hilkemeyer and wife, Donnie, all of Montgomery City, Mo.; stepchildren: Virginia Rock of Bellflower, Mo.; Charlie Stumbaugh of Montgomery City, Mo.; Shirley White of Mexico, Mo.; and Linda Chambers and husband, Tom, of Jonesburg, Mo.; seven grandchildren: Jeff Cunningham and wife, Lori; Courtney Cothren and husband, Ty; Brad Hilkemeyer and wife, Connie; David Hilkemeyer; Stephanie McCormack and husband, Donnie; Marci Britt and husband, Jim; and Mitchell Hilkemeyer and wife, Vicki; great-grandchildren: Shelby and Nick Britt; Jacob and Jordan Cunningham; Beckham and Wm. Mercer Cothren; Keith and Kendra Hilkemeyer; Shane and Taylor Sterling; Heather; Jasmine McCormack; RJ Niederjohn; and stepgreat-grandson, Joey Mc-Cormack. Also surviving are numerous stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Willard Brandenburg and wife, Mildred "Mitt" of Montgomery City, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Stumbaugh was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob Stumbaugh; three brothers: Homer, Mack and Andy Brandenburg; and two sisters, Lottie Carpenter and Emily McCoy.
Per Mrs. Stumbaugh's request, there will not be any services.
