Replaces Sue Watchter, who resigned
A new member joined the Audrain Medical Center Board of Trustees at its monthly meeting Jan. 24. Dana Keller replaces Sue Waechter, who resigned from the board. Keller is the executive director of the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce and the Audrain County Historical Museum complex. She has been a Mexico resident since 1985.
Members present for the meeting were Sterling Oliver, acting chair; Gene Thomas D.O., treasurer; and Bill Dubbert, secretary.
Oliver reported that he had toured the corridor around the ASU/OR area, which has been painted green. Dave Neuendorf, president and CEO of AMC, said the color theme will continue for hospital projects.
In the president's report, Neuendorf gave a hospital update which included positive feedback from AMC's affiliation with SSM. He also said the process is going well.
Neuendorf reported that patient satisfaction scores were high in December, in the 99th percentile for a number of measures. He said he hopes this performance trend will continue in 2013.
In other discussion points, Neuendorf said the census in January has been good, even requiring the re-opening of the 3West unit a couple of times due to a high census.
He also urged trustees to visit the healthcaregrades.com website to view the updated hospital ratings. AMC is noted as being the recipient of a 2011 patient safety award and a 2012 Five Star award for joint replacement.
In old business, Kari Wilson, vice president of clinical services/COO, reported that the remaining work in the ASU/OR area will be completed in three to four weeks, and that the AMC Auxiliary is considering remodeling the gift shop.
In new business, the trustees reviewed the budget. The revised budget reflects the final year-end cash balance and will be sent to the state auditor. Also, the trustees passed a motion to transfer $640,000 from the tax account for the maintenance of the hospital.
